Getting comments is desirable, too bad only spammers seems to care :(

Anti-Spam plugin was disabled for a couple of days because if incompatibilities with the new server, and of course it didn’t take them (the spammers) long to start posting crap on the blog.

Plugin is now reactivated and commenting should work as usual.

The reason Wordpress (the blogging software) requires an email from you at the time you comment is to check it against a known spammer database. If that has been used recently or too often, it gets flagged as potential bad guy.
Popodeus does not use your e-mail address in any way to contact people. Also the nifty avatars you see on the comment field is provided by the global avatar service, http://www.gravatar.com. Register your online email on their site, and if you use that email address to comment and register to various places on the net, chances are, you will have your gravatar visible there too. Global recognition. Awesome!

And reading back on these posts now, I still think sprites are not a way to handle a solution of bandwidth and improved network traffic. It’s an ugly hack and patch, and Google etc. are working on ways to create more efficient protocols on top of TCP for faster transmission of files.

Firefox doesn’t use HTTP 1.1 pipelining by default yet (unless they switched over already), but they’re going to ship it on by default soon in the future.

I rather tackle some other problems than fiddle with CSS sprite maps. I don’t want a pixel perfect web, and CSS sprites don’t fit in a fully scalable web. Use SVG graphics instead.

I didn’t update the blog with latest info. I used the backup to rollback my upgrades, since I couldn’t figure out the cause of the error.

Everyone see that statistics need to accept that but still in developer forum they kick Turkish speaking people :)

And you can be sure there is too many Turkish user doesnt select Turkish language as languages spoken just for rp or seem cool :=)

Funniest is the tagalog language … just two user but they have 4 crew. 2 crew per user :)

You need to realize that the forum indexer is only from April 2009 until today, and I didn’t run any indexing for almost 2 months now, so yes, there are lots and lots of holes.
The three main forums that get indexed are English General, Question forum and Game development. Anything else is just a bonus :)

I do have a vision on how to fetch almost “everything”. Currently I am lacking a standalone and powerful enough server, so I can’t do anything.

Ok, well it still seems like a good portion could be missing, I searched for the amount of posts that I’ve made and it only returned like 129 results, which is WAY off lol. What about all the different city forums? I frequent Toronto and NY forums, not sure if you do.

No, what it seems like is that the Turkish are the ones starting a majority of all threads. English is a minority language in the forums.

So I’m back to the Forum index bit :P

It seems like the only threads that you read are from Turkish, but a good portion of the user base writes in English which means the forum database is extremely skewed. Which leads me to my previous post, when would you make the indexing script available to the public.

If not only to a few select people you can trust, like me lol.

I understand, sometimes I do graphics and stats for my own amusement too :)

Unfortunately, I don’t know how to program on Java, only basic C++ =P .. The first of your graphs is very nice, it reminds me the graphs of the software Mathematica:

Thanks, I mainly do these graphs for my own amusement (seriously :D).

I actually use a Java graphing library called JFree (can be obtained from http://www.jfree.org), and create images with my custom made servlets and JSP (Java Server Pages). So it’s really not something everyone can “just use”, you have to program it.

Once again, I can only say that I’m aware that the Popmundo University search inside the game isn’t really that good… Have you tried giving suggestions in the forum on how the developers can improve on it…?
